Hi G! I've definitely seen disclaimers like that floating around without much context, so I thought I might as well fill the void myself with an essay!
It might just be the lack of other people talking about it, but I think most folks feel the same way y'all do about their 'types - usually, being something involves some sense of affinity with others of your kind! It's just not always true, as is obviously the case here. I'm shaking hands with Jude in not really caring about our species just because they're our species, and thinking friends of the same species are cool because they're our friends! Gavin cares a lot about other humans with the shared humanity, though, so he can definitely shake y'all's hands/paws on that one!
