Oh, we've read your source before! I can definitely see how that relates in terms of prey drive :O Getting close to someone and manipulating them so they're tastier to feast on in the future, that makes sense!
Honestly, the social aspect of hunting people is a major factor in why I feel like it's kinda different from hunting non-sapient animals. There's definitely aggressive mimicry in the rest of the animal kingdom, but I can't see into an orchid mantis's mind and say, without caveat, that it knows that it looks like a flower and chooses to hide there to trick bees into thinking it's a flower so they get close enough for it to catch them. Maybe it does! I have no way of knowing! But I do know that when I hunted deviants, I was understanding their perspective and deliberately misleading them into believing I, specifically, was a trustworthy person. You don't get that with a dog hunting a rabbit! There's a different sort of emphasis there, I think, that's really interesting to talk about.
